New Orleans Rain

“Don’t you just love those long rainy afternoons in New Orleans when an hour isn’t just an hour – but a little piece of eternity dropped into your hands – and who knows what to do with it?”

― Tennessee Williams, A Streetcar Named Desire

Part of being in New Orleans is dealing with the summer weather.  That means feeling hot and sticky pretty much from May through October, and cursing everyone who has a pool but forgot to invite you over.

The gorgeous part of the summers here are the afternoon showers.  The ominous clouds roll in, you can smell the storm in the air and then….it hits.  The storms don’t last long but there is so much inspiration in them.

The sky turns from blue to gray, to deep gray, to yellow, to a light red and back to where we started at blue.  All in as quickly as twenty minutes!

And then of course, all of that rain begets this
